Alnmouth history. There have been people here for well over one thousand years. In early times the marshes would have been more extensive and fishing would have provided a lot of the food. This article goes into a lot of the details. Interestingly it mentions the impact of the mini ice age and the damage caused by the changes in the weather patterns as the 14th century began. Later the port became associated with the grain trade.
