Wells and Water at Vindolanda

We tend to take the availability of water as a right these days. The Romans would have appreciated the value of its plentiful supply and the next part of Vindolanda introduces you to water and wells.

This is the story board

"Vindolanda has excellent water supplies, with many springs and good streams nearby ( see the one at Chesterholm for example). The most powerful source lay near here, and the water was channeled to fort and civilian buildings in stone aquaducts or through timber pipes".
